This time we wanted to explore a wide range of mythical and legendary creatures!

A: APSARA

Celestial Nymphs and dancers from South Eastern Asia.
In Cambodia, they're very recurrent in bas-reliefs on Ankorian temples.
Today, there are traditional dance shows featuring apsaras.



B: BAKENEKO

The Bakeneko is a supernatural creature.
According to its name, It is cat has changed into a yōkai.  
An if me your wondering whats a yokai?
Well, they are a class of supernatural monsters, spirits and demons in Japanese folklore.



C: CERBERUS


 Cerberus by Srdce

A three-headed dog that guards the entrance to the underworld in the Greek Mythology.
The twelfth and final labour imposed on Heracles was to bring back Cerberus from Hades,
which was given as an impossible mission.



D: DRYAD

Dryad is a tree nymph or tree spirit.
Drys signifies Oak in greek and dryads are specifically the nymphs of oak trees
 but the term has since come to be used for all tree nymphs in general.
They are normally very shy creatures.



E: ELF

Elves, human-shaped magical beings from Germanic mythology, are now the most loved and
recurrent supernatural people in fantasy.  
They represent beauty, magic and harmony with nature.
The most common features are the pointy ears and almond-shaped eyes.




F: FAUN

The faun is a half human half goat creature.
The goat man, more commonly affiliated with the Satyrs of Greek mythology
or Fauns of Roman is a bipedal creature with the legs of a goat
and the torso of a man and is often depicted with goat's horns.



G: GARGOYLE

A Gargoyle is a carved fantastical creature used in Gothic architecture
to conduct rainwater away from the building to prevent damage.

The Catholic church used these creatures to represent evil.



H:  HARIONAGO

Harionago also known as Harionna  is a frightening female ghoul in Japanese mythology. 
Her name literally meaning Barbed woman. The Harionago is said to be
a "beautiful woman with extremely long hair tipped with thorn-like barbs.




I: INUGAMI


Inugami Form by konmaikonmai 

A dog spirit from Japanese folklore that possesses people. It's actually a very sad story because
people would create inugami by starving a dog and then cutting his head.
Then the head is buried at a crossroad where many people pass to angry the spirit 
=( (Sad)



J: JACKALOPE

The Jackalope is a North American myth its described as a jackrabbit with antelope horns.
The word "jackalope" is a portmanteau of "jackrabbit" and "antelope",
although the jackrabbit is not a rabbit, and the pronghorn is not an antelope =D



K: KELPIE

Malevolent water horse from Scottish folklore.
She would lure people into travelling on her back and then, once unable to dismount,
she'd walk into a body of water and drown them.



L: LIKHO


Faerie Mysteries - Likho by mli13 One-eyed Likho by nesmertelno

Likho is the embodiment of evil fate and misfortune from Slavic mythology,
A creature with one eye, often an old 
skinny woman dressed in black.



M: MANTICORE


 003 - Manticore by Mythka

The manticore is a legendary creature from Persian mythology.
It has the body of a lion, the head of a human and the tail of a scorpion.

It's a deadly opponent and eats men alive ^^

Thanks so much for featuring my gargoyle! It's also such a great post as well. I learned a lot about new creatures from different cultures.
